One Young Man Hopes To Build A National Firm

Born and raised in Maharanijhoda village, located in Jhapa district, Mr. Thapa lives with a family of five - his parents, younger brother and younger sister. The Thapa family has been involved in agriculture for more than a decade, growing mostly wheat, paddy, corn and also own a few cows.

Participating in the Small Farmer Agriculture Training Program at Kinneret College in Israel has helped him commercialize his cow farm at home. In Israel, he got an opportunity to work in one during the program, where he learned about cattle farm management, cow milking technologies and effective scientific agricultural procedures.

Now back in Nepal, he has ten cows and seven calves. His aim is to expand the farm gradually, which will generate employment opportunities to the people of his Village Development Committee (VDC).

One of his dreams is to establish a dairy farm that sells at a national level, instead of just a regional one. Although he is content with what he is currently doing, he knows that with some additional support he will be able to maximize economic output with the experience he acquired in Israel.

His yearly net income has now reached Nrs. 350,000, which has been sufficient to get established. He is optimistic about the future of his cow farm, and he has employed his business plan to achieve the success he hopes for.
